International House Coimbra and Santa Clara 
IH Coimbra opened in 1967, and has approximately 800 students studying English in the school. There are classes for students with ages ranging from 6 upwards, with classes for teenagers and adults. Courses start from Beginner level, going through to preparation classes for the Cambridge University Certificate of Proficiency in English. The school also provides English lessons for approximately 420 students in two local primary schools - Jardins Escola João de Deus.  

IH Santa Clara opened in 1997, and in its fourth year has approximately 300 students, with classes in school and in a number of local companies and primary schools. Housed in a restored building of 4 classrooms, the school overlooks Portugal dos Pequenitos (model Portugal for kids) on one side and the old Santa Clara convent on the other. Levels start at Beginner for children and adults, and go up to courses of preparation for the University of Cambridge Exams. In the summer of 1998, IH Santa Clara also started German classes, preparing students for the Österreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch (Austrian Diplomas in the German Language) examinations.

Examinations:
 International House Coimbra/Santa Clara prepares students for the following Cambridge exams:  
Preliminary English Test (PET)
CELS * 
First Certificate English (FCE)  
Cambridge Advanced English (CAE)  
Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)  
These exams can be taken in June and December each year.  

* International House Coimbra is the centre in the Centre of Portugal for the Cambridge CELS examinations.   

Österreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch 

Company Teaching:
The school designs courses for Company personnel which take into consideration their specific needs. Classes are given both in company and at the school on a one-to-one or group basis.
